DJ Fishboy has been flat out like a ...fish drinking?..anyway we have been extremely busy and we appreciate all the good reports you are passing onto friends and family. as you know I go out of my way to make sure your night is a BIG one.
Lot's of new tunes happening out there at the moment.
Here's a list of some of the popular tracks and some DJ Fishboy predictions too!
How long does a performance go for?
Five hours.
How much does it cost if I want you to play for longer than the standard five hours? $100 per hour.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
A deposit of $100 is required to confirm the booking. The remainder is to be paid to the DJ at the start of the evening.
How far in advance do I need to book?
We recommend booking as far in advance as possible. November and December are usually busy times due to Christmas Parties and March fills up quickly as it is a great time to get married, so the earlier you book the better. However, most of the time one or two weeks notice is all that is needed.
What areas do you cover?
We cover all areas in Metropolitan Melbourne. If your function is going to be held outside of Melbourne a small travel surcharge will apply.
Do I have a say in the music you play?
Of course, it is your function after all! We have a huge selection of music from the 50s to today to choose from that covers all eras and all popular music styles (except thrash and death metal, who listens to that rubbish, really?)
When you book your event we post you our extensive song list of the most popular party tracks. All you have to do is tick the songs you want to hear and return it to us at least 7 days before your event.
Once we receive you listing we then design a playlist tailor-made for your special event. It's that easy.
What if my favourite songs aren't included on your song list?
No problems, just include any special songs that we may have missed and we will do our best to source those tracks for your special occasion.
Will you play all my requested songs?
We will do our best to play as many of your selected songs as possible. Normally we average 12 to 20 songs an hour. Your DJ has an extensive music knowledge gleaned from years behind the decks and he will mix your favourites with the latest and greatest party tracks to ensure your event is a big success.
What if I don't want to hear a particular song or artist?
That's fine too, just let us know and we will happily refrain from playing those songs and artists.
Can my guests make requests?
If you would like your guests to make requests we are happy to accommodate, however if you would prefer to leave the music selection to your DJ and the tracks you have already selected we will happily follow your directions.
What kind of DJ are you?
As a mobile DJ, versatility and adaptability are the names of the game. I love and play all kinds of music and don't specialise in any one particular genre.
A DJ who only plays House and Techno or music is never going to satisfy a crowd at a wedding where the ages and musical tastes vary greatly.
The same would apply at a 40th or 50th birthday if all the DJ knew and wanted to play was RnB and hip-hop!
I play a mix of Top 40, Disco, House, Rock and Roll and maybe a bit of Hip-Hop or even Country if it is called for.
As every event is a different I work hard to play a mix that best satisfies your crowd.
Where did you get the name DJ Fishboy?
A long time ago when I was living in Vancouver,Canada, a girl at the clothing store I was working at told me that her name, Terumi was Japanese for ' Sun Shines Brightly'. As a cheeky Australian I immediately mocked her and told her that my full name, Timothy is also the name of a fisherman in the Bible, so therefore, I proclaimed, 'I am 'Fishboy'!
We both thought it was pretty funny and later when a girl from a nearby store rang I answered the phone as 'The Fishboy'.
I forgot all about it until a few days later when the same girl called our clothing store looking for 'The Fishboy' and that was it. I had a quirky nickname and on my return to Australia a funky DJ handle.
As it works out, I also work part-time as a swimming teacher in Melbourne's Western Suburbs so my life has ended up imitating my nickname in some ways!
